Prerequisites

  • MCP enabled for your organization by an admin at app.flexport.com/integrations/mcp-connection (Integrations → MCP Connection) — see Overview.
  • A Flexport account whose role grants access to the tools you need — see Permissions.
  • Claude or ChatGPT. (Flexport's MCP connector isn't yet available from Microsoft 365 Copilot's chat surface.)

Server URL

Every client below connects to the same remote MCP server:

https://mcp.flexport.com/mcp

Connections are initiated from the agent and tied to your individual Flexport account — it takes about a minute. When your agent redirects you, sign in with your Flexport account to authorize.

Claude

From the connectors directory

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors (claude.ai/customize/connectors).
  2. Search for Flexport and click Connect.
  3. Sign in with your Flexport account when redirected.

This is the recommended way to connect — if you previously added Flexport as a custom connector, remove it from Customize → Connectors first to avoid ending up with two connections. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner enables directory connectors from Organization settings → Connectors (claude.ai/admin-settings/connectors); a member without permission to enable connectors sees a Request button there instead, which notifies an Owner. See Claude's connectors directory guide for the current steps if your screen looks different.

Add as a custom connector

Alternatively, add it manually as a custom connector:

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click +, then Add custom connector, and paste https://mcp.flexport.com/mcp.
  3. Click Add, then sign in with your Flexport account when redirected.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, only an Owner can add a custom connector for the organization, from Organization settings → Connectors instead of the path above. Once added there, members connect their own account from Customize → Connectors. See Claude's custom connector guide for the current steps if your screen looks different.

ChatGPT

  1. Go to Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
  2. In the composer's Developer mode tools, add a new app pointing at https://mcp.flexport.com/mcp.
  3. Sign in with your Flexport account when redirected.

Developer mode is web-only and isn't available on the Free plan. On Business, Enterprise, or Edu workspaces, an admin may need to allow custom apps under workspace settings first. See OpenAI's developer mode guide for the current steps if your screen looks different.

Verify the connection

Ask your agent "What Flexport tools do you have available?" — it should list tools like track_shipment and rates_search_instant_price (see MCP Tools for the full list). Then try a real request, e.g. "Track shipment FLEX-1234567." The tools available to you are scoped to your Flexport role, so a coworker may see a different list — see Permissions.

You can view and revoke your own connections anytime from User Settings → MCP Connections.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
Error that MCP has not been enabled for your organization Contact your dedicated Flexport account team.
An admin doesn't see Integrations → MCP Connection Confirm the signed-in user is an account admin. If they are and the page is still missing, contact your Flexport account team.
Connected, but the agent has no Flexport tools, or fewer than expected Tool access is scoped to your Flexport role — see Permissions.
Flexport doesn't appear when searching the connectors directory in Claude Add it as a custom connector instead.
No Add custom connector option in Claude On Team/Enterprise plans, only an Owner can add it, from Organization settings → Connectors.
No custom-app option in ChatGPT Confirm Developer mode is on under Settings → Security and login; it's web-only and not available on the Free plan.
